Johnson Falls to Norwich and Southern Vermont

BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Northern Vermont University-Johnson volleyball team fell to Norwich 3-0 and Southern Vermont College 3-0 in the Vermont Volleyball Classic hosted by Southern Vermont College on Sunday afternoon. 

 

NORWICH

 

The Badgers traded points with Norwich through the first half of the first set before falling 25-13. In the second set, Johnson battled with Norwich, but were unable to hold off the attack by the Cadets and fell 25-10. The Badgers found their rhythm in the third set, scoring six straight points in the second half of the final set before Norwich took the set 25-20.

 

SOUTHERN VERMONT

 

Johnson fought hard against the Mountaineers in the first set but ran out of time to begin an attack of their own, falling 25-6. The Badgers started strong early in the second set before the Mountaineers walked away with the set with a score of 11-25. Johnson traded points back and forth with Southern Vermont early in the half but were unable to gain the lead, falling 25-10 in their final set of the day.

 

STATS LEADERS 

 

Against Norwich, Nikola Knapova (Presov, Slovakia) had six kills and Brooke Scheier (Milford, N.J.) added five of her own.

 

Against Southern Vermont College, Knapova led the way with five kills while Kimberly Reville (Burke, N.Y.) had four kills.

The Badgers will take on Northern Vermont University-Lyndon in two separate matchups on Monday, September 3rd in the second day of The Vermont Volleyball Classic at Southern Vermont College.
