Badgers Edge Express 3-2 on the Road

ROCHESTER, NY- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's volleyball team defeated Wells College in the final game at St. John Fisher College on Saturday afternoon. The Badgers went the distance closing the match in the fifth set to win by a score of 3-2.

It was a collective effort for the Badgers beating Wells College in five sets Saturday afternoon. Porsche Johnson and Mason Lores recorded career best to boost the Badgers in the win. Johnson recorded 14 kills earning a kill percentage of .263, Lores added 42 assists and 12 digs.

It was back and forth in each set of action, behind a strong showing from Johnson and Lores it was Lauren Havill that recorded 13 kills, Ashley Emery added nine kills, and Aleesia Smith earned seven kills.The Badgers produced a hitting percentage of .188 and a late run by Nikola Knapova who recorded six kills on the match earned the Badgers a 25-21 win. It was a similar story in the second set as the Badgers improved their hitting percentage to .263 and took the second set off a late run by a score of 25-19.

Wells College controlled sets three and four by strong performances by Jakie Allen. Allen recorded a match high 25 kills with a kill percentage of .295, and Jordan Stoops added 27 assists. The Express captured wins in the third and fourth set by a score of 26-24 and 25-22, extending the match to a fifth and final set.

In the deciding set of action, it was Havill, Johnson and Lores that carried the Badgers to the win as they edged the Express by a score of 15-13.

With the win the Badgers improve to 7-6 on the year.

Women's volleyball is set to travel to Lasell University on Saturday, September 28. The match is set for a 3:00pm start.
