Badgers Sweep Lasell 3-0 in Non-Conference Matchup

NEWTON, Mass. — The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's volleyball team swept Lasell 3-0 in a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Badgers improve to 8-6 on the season. 

Porsche Johnson led the Badgers with nine kills and Nikola Knapova contributed six kills of her own. Ashley Emery added six kills and eight digs for the Badgers. Kiana Perez Diaz led all players in the match as she pitched in 12 kills and nine digs. 

The Badgers opened the first set with an early 6-1 lead before the Lasers chipped away to tie the match at 16-16. The Badgers cruised to a 25-21 win in the first set to take an early 1-0 advantage. Johnson continued to overpower the Lasers in the second set and took a 25-19 win entering the third and final set.

The Badgers took an early lead in the third set before the Lasers fought their way back into the match and tied the score at 18-18. Lasell's Katie Schneider secured the lead for the Lasers with a service ace but Johnson fought back to tie the match at 23-23. Capitalizing on a kill by Knapova and an error by the Lasers, the Badgers sealed their 3-0 sweep of Lasell by a score of 29-27.

Women's volleyball will travel to Plattsburgh, New York to face the Cardinals of SUNY Plattsburgh in a non-conference match on Tuesday, October 1st. The match is slated to begin at 6:00pm.
