Badgers Drop Match to Norwich University 3-1

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's volleyball team returned to action and traveled to in state rival Norwich University on Friday evening. The Badgers dropped the match by a score of 3-1.

Porsche Johnson and Christina Betham were the top performers for the Badgers each recording eight kills apiece. Kylie Berry racked up 20 assists and Bella Baragona added 12 digs or the Badgers.   

With the score tied at 5-5 in the opening set, the Cadets cruised to the first set win with a 14-0 run and eventually taking the set 25-8.

The second set was a back-and-forth affair with neither team able to string together more than a few points at a time. The lead continued to change until a Betham ace regained the lead for the Badgers. Jimmi Lynn William would follow up with a kill of her own and the Badgers would lead 21-20 until a 5-0 run led gave the Cadets the 2-0 advantage in the match.

PJ Johnson was the difference in the third set and contributed to a strong 13-0 run for the Badgers to capitalize in the third set while closing the gap to 2-1. But the Cadets rallied for seven-straight points to lead 10-3 and used that momentum and several other small runs to secure the match win.

With the loss the Badgers fall to 0-2 on the season and will travel to Southern Maine on Sunday for a 12:30pm match.
