Cross Country Competes in NCAA Regional

JOHNSON VT. – The Johnson State College women's cross country team competed at the 2016 NCAA Division III New England Regional on Saturday, finishing 56th as a team in the 6k race. Men's cross country senior Jason Harris (Lyndonville, Vt.) also competed at the event, which was hosted by Westfield State University.

Brynn Cairns (Rutland, Vt.) was Johnson's top performer, finishing 248th out of the over 400 runner field with a time of 25:34.41. Emily McCarthy (Farmington, Maine) finished ten spots behind Cairns at 258 with a time of 25:29.35. Sarah Sodaro (Monkton, Vt.), Chelby Nystrom (Brookline, Vt.), and Kate Abdel-Fatah (Randolph, Vt.) also ran for the Badgers. All five Johnson runners recorded personal 6k records on the day.

Harris competed individually at the meet, finishing with a time of 34:13.87, putting him in 367th.
