XC: Johnson Hosts Badger Invitational

JOHNSON, Vt. – The Johnson State College men's and women's cross country teams hosted the Badger Invitational on Saturday morning. The women placed second as a team, with the men recording a fifth place finish.

WOMEN'S RECAP

Brynn Cairns (Rutland, Vt.) earned first place individually with a time of 22:49.1, over 40 seconds better than the second place finisher. Lily Denmeade (Hartland, Vt.)  came in third for the Badgers, finishing in 24:50.3. Sarah Sodaro (Monkton, Vt.) finished 14th overall, while Kate Abdel-Fatah (Braintree, Vt.) and Jessica Malskis (Jay, N.Y.) finished 19th and 24th. Emily Cass (Braintree, Vt.) and Elizabeth Tapia (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) rounded out the field for Johnson, finishing 26th and 27th.

MEN'S RECAP

Richard Radcliff (Danbury, Conn.) finished first for the Badgers, coming in 16th with a time of 35:46.3. Daniel Ott (Wyoming, N.Y.) finished just behind him in 18th, while Kyle Duffy (Waterbury Center, Vt.) followed in 21st. Cole Shebak (Brookline, N.H.) and Erik Crosby (Springfield, Vt.) were Johnson's final finishers, coming in 30th and 31st.

SENIOR CELEBRATION

Johnson seniors Abdel-Fatah, Cairns, Tapia, Crosby, Duffy and Greenia were recognized following the race for running in their final race at Johnson.

Johnson will run in the Vermont State Meet at Middlebury college on Saturday, September 30th.
