Whitmore Named Head Men's Tennis Coach

Johnson, Vt. – The Northern Vermont University Associate Dean of Athletics and Recreation Jamey Ventura announced the hiring of Michele Whitmore as the NVU-Johnson Head Men's Tennis Coach on Tuesday evening. 

Whitmore has spent the past nine years as the Women's Tennis coach for NVU-Johnson. She currently ranks first in all time victories with 36.Whitmore, who is also the institution's Associate Dean of Students and Title IX Coordinator has led the Badgers to three berths in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division Semifinals. Her best year was in 2017, when she led the Badgers to a 10-8 record.

"What started out to be a temporary fill-in to coach the women's team in 2008 brought me 9 years of joy and a new-found passion for the sport and for student athlete mentoring." Says Whitmore. "I hope to bring all three to the men's team this spring and beyond."

Michele Whitmore's presence on campus both as a coach and administrator and her passion for the game of tennis is invaluable for Northern Vermont University-Johnson.
