Maddie House Commits to NVU-Johnson

 JOHNSON, Vt.- Maddie House is the most recent student-athlete to announce her commitment to Northern Vermont University-Johnson's athletic programs. House has committed for the 2019-2020 to be a member of both the women's basketball team and women's soccer program.

Maddie House has signed the necessary paperwork and comes to NVU-Johnson from Point Pleasant Beach, NJ where she will be majoring in Environmental Advocacy, while also pursuing a minor in Political Science. Maddie brings great leadership and positivity to the Badger athletic family and believes that these qualities will translate to the college athletic surface and the classroom. 

Maddie knew that Northern Vermont University-Johnson was the right place for her once she stepped onto campus. "I enjoy the gorgeous scenery of the mountains, along with the environmentally conscious area, said House". "Everyone including the professors, coaches, and current students are all very welcoming. I am confident this school will benefit my future and help me to grow". 

The environment of NVU-Johnson along with the opportunity to compete athletically at the next level proved to be areas where House believes she will transition into quickly. "I have played sports since I was young and am stoked to progress my career for these next 4 years. This is the perfect place to balance my sports with academics, due to the supportive coaching staff". Current Head Women's Soccer Coach and alum of Johnson Andrew Lafrenz knew from day one that Maddie was the right fit for NVU-Johnson. ""Maddie is a true Badger. She has found a home here with us at NVU Johnson as a student of environmental advocacy and a dual sport athlete.  Our Soccer and Basketball teams are lucky to have an individual of her caliber joining us."  Maddie will prove to be an impact player for the Badgers on the soccer field right away as well. "On the field, Maddie's skill, athleticism and desire make her a force to be reckoned with", stated Coach Wendi Yocum who has coached Maddi for the past 9 years. "Her passion for the game is undeniable. Off the field, she has the most infectious love for life attitude.  Maddie has always made me incredibly proud to be her coach."

When Maddi isn't competing on the soccer field she is on the competing on the hardwood. A four-year product of head coach Jay Lagomarsino and the Point Pleasant Beach High School varsity girls' basketball program, Maddie leaves behind a legacy of being a one of a kind teammate. "Maddie was the quintessential leader as our captain of the Point Pleasant Beach High School Varsity Basketball Team". Said Coach Lagomarsino, "She leaves behind a legacy of how to be a truly caring teammate, supporting everyone on the team on and off the court. Maddie's engaging, encouraging, positive spirit will always possess a special place in our Program's heart."

Maddie House will be the fourth commit for the upcoming 2019-2020 women's basketball season. "Maddie brings great energy, positivity and a great passion for the game of basketball, said Coach Eckman. "She is a competitor and will be a great addition to the Badger basketball family".
