Badgers Earn Multi Sport Commitment From Lillyn Aguilar

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's track and field and women's volleyball programs have earned a commitment from Lillyn Aguilar who will be enrolled at NVU-Johnson in the fall of 2020.

Lillyn Aguilar has signed the necessary paperwork and has committed to both the women's track and field and women's volleyball for the 2020-2021 seasons. When arrived at NVU-Johnson Aguilar plans to pursue a degree in psychology.

"I choose NVU-Johnson because they have a strong support system when it comes to academics. I am intrigued by the fact that I am able to be a two-sport athlete and still achieve good grades within academics", said Aguilar. A native of Whittier, California and a student-athlete at Whittier High School, Aguilar has built a solid resume on the playing surface. In 2019 was top five in the Del Rio League for discus and shot put after being ranked first overall in the district in both events.

On the volleyball court, Aguilar earned the Most Improved Award in 2018 and has been successful in the classroom earning an academic letter for a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the past two years.

Aguilar plans to bring the same commitment both on the playing surface and in the classroom when she begins her career as a Badger. "I am excited to join the Badger family because not only do they focus on sports, but they also focus on academics. Also, I like how welcoming the coaches are and how each sports program has a high standard for their athletes on the playing surface and in the classroom".

Aguilar will compete in the fall for head coach Keven John and in the spring for head coach Shawn Woods. "I am excited to play for Coach John because I love knowing a coach is willing to dedicate all his time for his team to become more passionate about volleyball. I am eager to play for both coaches and because both strive for success in their respective seasons. Coach Woods has such a strong passion for his team and love for track and field and I know he will help me progress as a student-athlete over my time at NVU-Johnson".

Both the women's track and field program and women's volleyball program plan to announce additional commitments in the near future.
