THE LEAD – The Lesley University women's tennis team made it three in a row to open the 2023 with a convincing 8-1 win over Vermont State Johnson in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener for both squads Saturday afternoon at the Waltham Athletic Club courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lynx dominated doubles play as Jessica Legendre and Mary Osucha posted an 8-0 sweep to open play at No. 1 doubles. Brooke Whitten and Jordan Blair recorded an 8-2 win in the No. 2 doubles slot followed by another 8-2 win in No. 3 doubles from Lucy Boyce and Arden Farnsworth-Moore to give the hosts a 3-0 stronghold on the match entering singles play.
  • Legendre, Osucha and Whitten were perfect in singles play with 6-0, 6-0 sweeps in the top three positions while Blair and Boyce posted identical 6-1, 6-0 victories, respectively, in the No. 4 and No. 5 slots.
  • The lone Badger win came in No. 6 singles as Sam Russell-Davis controlled that affair with a win over Ariane Ramos to account for the 8-1 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • The straight three wins to open the season matches the best start in program history.
  • The doubles-win for Farnsworth-Moore marked her collegiate debut.
