WSOC: Wildcats Win 3-1 in NAC Road Contest Against Vermont State Johnson.

JOHNSON, VT- The SUNY Poly women's soccer team won 3-1 against Vermont State Johnson on Saturday afternoon in a North Atlantic Conference game. With the win, the Wildcats have now won three games in a room with one non-conference game remaining before the North Atlantic Conference playoffs. With the win, the Wildcats move to 7-7-1 on the season and 6-2 in North Atlantic Conference play. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Wildcats would get on the board first with a goal from Kate Donnelly in the 15th minute on an assist from Aubree Smykla. It wouldn't take long for the Badgers to respond, with Matt House scoring a goal in the 26th minute to even the score. The two NAC opponents would take the tie into halftime.

In the second half, Kate Donnelly would strike again in the 61st minute to give the Wildcats the lead for good, this time on an assist from Caroline Entwistle. It would be Donnelly's second goal of the game and her sixth goal of the season. In the 76th minute, Kaylee Zehr would score her first goal in a Wildcat uniform to extend the lead to 3-1. The Wildcats would hold in the final minutes for the victory. 

 

NOTABLE STATISTICS: 

  • Kate Donnelly scored two goals, her second multi-goal game of the season.

  • Katie Bowers recorded three goals to record the win in goal.

The Wildcats are back in action at home on Wednesday, October 25th for a non-conference game against Bard. The game is scheduled to start at 6:00 PM.
