WSOC: Kiuber’s Hat Trick Leads Wildcats Past NVU-Johnson 3-1.

MARCY, N.Y. -  The SUNY Poly women's soccer team beat NVU-Johnson on Saturday afternoon 3-1. Ashley Kiuber would score three goals for the Wildcats, the lone hat trick on the season for any Wildcat player. Hannah Shipley would record an assist on all three goals from Kiuber. With the win, the Wildcats move to 5-3-4 on the season and 4-2-3 in North Atlantic Conference play. The Beavers move to 1-7-5 on the season and 1-4-4 in North Atlantic Conference play.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Wildcats would get the scoring going early as Ashley Kiuber would score her first goal of the season late in the 6th minute of the game on an assist from Hannah Shipley. The duo would connect again in the 20th minute to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

The Wildcats would strike again first in the second half with Kiuber's third goal of the game coming in the 61st minute, again on an assist from Hannah Shipley. NVU-Johnson would try to make a push late, with Peyton Fairchild scoring on a free-kick in the 70th minute. The Wildcats would hold on, however, securing the 3-1 victory. After today's contest, the Wildcats finish North Atlantic Conference play and will play two non-conference games this coming week to wrap up the regular season before starting their quest for a North Atlantic Conference championship.

  • Ashley Kiuber scored her first, second, and third goals of the season in the same game.
  • With the three assists, Hannah Shipley now has 12 points on the season which leads the Wildcats.
  • Michalyn Fagan recorded two saves in goal for the Wildcats.
  • Isabel Atkisson would record four saves in goal for the Beavers.
