Davis Career High Lifts Badgers Over Hornets 98-79

LYNDONVILLE, Vt.-Floyd Davis's career night led the Badgers to a 98-79 victory on Saturday afternoon against Northern Vermont University-Lyndon in a Presidents Cup Challenge contest.

Davis knotted a double-double and led the Badgers with a career high 30 points on 13-16 shooting and 11 boards off the bench. Three other players scored in double digits for the Badgers fueled by performances from Zach Shedd who added 13 points on 6-8 shooting. Robert Dubose scored 12 points and Ayodeji Shokeye finished with 10 points for the Badgers. 

The Hornets opened up the game on an initial 12-4 run but it didn't last as Dubose scored a jumper and Davis had back to back buckets to cut the lead to just two points. It was back and forth for most of the first half, but the Badgers held onto the lead headed into the second half leading 41-39.

Davis took over in the second half of action shooting an impressive 9-10 from the floor for 22 points. The Badgers opened up the second half on a 15-8 run and didn't look back holding the Hornets to 40 points in the second half while scoring a season high 57 points.

The Hornets were led by Damon Denteh and Zach Falkenburg who each had a team high 16 points while Kyle Cary and Peyton Olsen chipped in 13 points apiece.

The Badgers won the rebounding battle outrebounding the Hornets 42-24 and won the assist battle by a margin of 34-16. The Badgers scored at will in the paint shooting an impressive 61.2% from the floor and holding the Hornets to just 49.2%

With the win the Badgers improve to 4-14 on the season and 2-5 in NAC play and will host SUNY Canton on Friday, January 31 in a North Atlantic Conference contest in Carter Gymnasium.
