Kangaroos Outlast Badgers 68-51

JOHNSON, Vt.- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's basketball team hosted SUNY Canton in the first of two North Atlantic Conference contests on Friday evening. The Kangaroos edged the Badgers beating them by a score of 68-51.

Robert Dubose lead the way shooting 7-14 from the floor to earn a game high 20 points. Dubose added two rebounds, two assists, and two steals and was the only Badger to score double digits on the evening. Ayodeji Shokeye recorded seven points, and five boards while Floyd Davis scored four points and pulled down a team high eight rebounds.

The Badgers opened up an initial 10-5 lead and limited the Kangaroos offensively. The Kangaroos tied the contest at 12-12 but the Badgers went on a 12-4 run to take a strong eight-point lead with time winding down in the first half of action. Back to back baskets from Quran Dubois and Juztin Chambers-Phillips brought the Kangaroos within five headed into the break.

In the early goings of the second half, SUNY Canton was able to knot the game at 24-24 before a three-point field goal from George Nehma gave the Kangaroos the slight advantage. 

The Kangaroos would remain in the lead and would go on a 21-8 run in the final eight minutes of the half to earn the win by a score of 68-51. The Kangaroos had three players in double figures led by Joseph Werner who scored 18 points and added 11 rebounds and George Nehma who poured in 17 points and 11 boards.

With the loss the Badgers drop to 4-15 overall and 2-6 in the NAC. Men's basketball returns back to action tomorrow at 3:00pm against SUNY Canton.
