MTEN: Badgers Pick Up 5-4 Conference Win Over Lyndon

STOWE, Vt. – The Johnson State College men's tennis team defeated Lyndon State College 5-4 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match on Wednesday afternoon at Topnotch Resort.

Doubles

The Badgers took two out of three doubles to start the match. The team of Gerrit Lane (Moretown, Vt.) and Austin Walters (Grantham, N.H.) dropped first doubles to Jake Lacerda and Neal Mulligan 8-2.  Joseph Holloway (London, England) and John Folsom (Califon, N.J.) took second doubles 8-1 over Korey Steele and Gerald Fleming, while Ethan Hutchinson (Canterbury, N.H.) and Evan Daigneault (Newfane, Vt.) defeated Mukhtar Abdullahi and Jeremy Polonia to take third flight doubles 8-6.

Singles

The teams spilt the six singles matches to take the 5-4 victory. In first flight, Lacerda dropped Lane 6-1, 6-3. Walters dropped 6-3, 6-0 sets to Mulligan in second singles, but Holloway defeated Steele 6-1, 6-1 to take the third flight.

Folsom won fourth singles over Fleming 6-0, 6-0. Hutchinson defeated Monroe in the fifth flight 6-1, 6-1, while Colin Compagna (Morrisville, Vt.) fell in sixth singles 6-4, 6-0.
