MTEN: Badgers Fall to MCLA in NAC Match

JOHNSON, Vt. – The Johnson State College men's tennis team fell to MCLA 7-2 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match on Sunday afternoon.

Doubles

The Trailblazers took all three doubles matches to go up 3-0/  The Badger's doubles team of Ethan Hutchinson (Canterbury, N.H.) and Austin Walters (Grantham, N.H.), dropped their match 8-1. While Joseph Holloway (London, England) and John Folsom (Califon, N.J.) fell in their match 8-4 and Colin Compagna (Morrisville, Vt.) and Quinn Lambert (Joppatowne, Md.) lost third doubles 9-7.

Singles

MCLA held a 4-2 advantage in singles to take the 7-2 victory. Walters dropped straight 6-0 sets in first flight. Holloway way dropped the first set of second singles 6-2, but came back to tie it up with a 6-3 second set victory. The two played a third set super tiebreaker, with Holloway coming away with the 12-10 win. Folsom picked up Johnson's second win with a 7-5, 6-1 win in third flight singles.

Hutchinson dropped fourth flight in straight 6-0 sets. Lambert fell in fifth singles 6-3, 1-0 (10-6), while Evan Daigneault (Newfane, Vt.) dropped sixth flight 6-0, 6-3.

Senior Celebration

Prior to the match, Hutchinson was honored for playing in one of his final home contests.
