DUDLEY, MA — The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's volleyball team was defeated by the Nichols College Bison, 3-0, in a conference matchup at Nichols College on Saturday afternoon. The Badgers move to 1-14 on the season in the loss.
The Bison won by scores of 25-9, 25-13, and 25-8 . The Badgers were led by senior Nicholas Audet (Morrisville, VT) with three kills and one assist. Jesse Streeter (Jericho, VT) pitched in with five digs, one kill, and one block.
Opening the first set, the Bison jumped out to an early lead. The Badgers tried to fight back into the set before the Bison went on a 7-0 run to push their lead to 13 points. The Bison controlled the remainder of the set, taking a 24-9 win over Johnson. The teams traded points in the opening minutes of the second set but Nichols took control of the lead and of the pace of the set. Going on multiple runs, the Bison emerged with a 2-0 advantage in the match, taking a 25-13 win in the second set. The Bison continued to give the Badgers trouble in the third set, escaping with a 25-8 win in the set to end the match.
The Badgers travel to Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday, March 23rd for a non-non-conference tri-match starting at 2:00pm. The Badgers will face Nichols College and Eastern Nazarene College.
