Badgers Earn Fourth Win Over Lesley University

MEDFORD, MA- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's volleyball team traveled to Lesley University on Saturday evening and earned back to back wins by scores of 3-1.

With the two wins the Badgers move to 4-4 overall. The Badgers came out strong in the first set of the first match, taking it 25-17. The Lynx held strong, but the Badgers runs only allowed the Lynx to come within two points until Jason Madrid led a four-point run to close out the set.

The second set was similar to the first, with the Badgers again running away late. Randy Willette led a seven-point run to finish the set and take it 25-19 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

It was the Lynx that took the third set 31-29 after a back-and-forth ending. The Badgers were leading 12-6 early, but the Lynx battled back to win it in the end.

A five-point run early in the fourth set put the Badgers in control and they were able to win by a score of 25-17. Ryan Willette led the way for the Badgers with a match high 18 kills and 11 digs while Wyatt Moberg added 26 digs. Madrid provided the Badgers with 38 assists.

The Badgers came out strong with a 25-9 victory in the first set of the finale on Saturday. Madrid led a nine-point run to end the set after the Lynx struggled to go on a run. The Lynx managed to take the second set 25-23 and tie the match at one apiece. Lesley would not go quietly, but the Badgers held strong to take sets three and four and win the second match. The Badgers took the final two sets by scores of 25-21 and 26-24. Streeter had 14 kills in the match, while Jason Madrid had 33 assists. 

The Badgers will travel to Emerson on Saturday, February 15 for a non-conference match.
