Men's Volleyball Celebrate Senior Day

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's volleyball team is celebrating its Senior Day virtually and recognizing the programs two seniors Jesse Streeter and Michael Weston

A two-year member of the NVU-Johnson men's volleyball team, Streeter was part of the inaugural team during the 2019 season. Streeter made his mark in 2019 setting the tone as a middle blocker standing six feet five inches. Throughout his career, Streeter appeared in 30 matches and competed in 103 sets for the Badgers. Streeter concludes the 2020 season at NVU-Johnson ranked 1stoverall in program history in blocks (54), 2ndin program history in kills (129) and has recorded 48 digs.

Coach John added "Jesse has been with our program since it began last year. He joined the team with zero volleyball experience just 15 months ago. In one year, he has become the leader of our program and an unquestionable force on the court. With his ability to grow it is hard to imagine where Jesse could have been at the end of this interrupted season and I have a pretty good imagination," said John.  "I will miss our political chats and his even demeanor. As Jesse moves on to law school I look forward to the day I will be able to vote for his ticket as he becomes Vice President of the United States…".

Assistant men's volleyball coach Dana John added "Jesse Streeter provided the team with consistency in hard work, and leadership. From the beginning of the program, he exhibited a high volleyball IQ despite his lack of experience. I was very pleased to see him back on the court in his second season with us and witness his growth as a driving force and leader on the team. He really came into his own this year and his determination to succeed, his calm and intellectual attitude will be missed. I expect great things from him as he pursues his passion in law."

Streeter leaves NVU-Johnson with a cumulative grade point average of 3.71 and has made his mark on the NVU community serving as NVU-Johnson Student Body President, President of the SGA in 2019 and 2020 and also spent time serving as the Student Trustee/President of Vermont State College Student Association in 2018 and 2019.

A member of the NVU-Johnson men's volleyball program for the 2020 season, Michael Weston appeared in 15 matches for the Badgers as a middle blocker and right side. Weston competed in 50 sets while earning 58 kills, 50 digs, 16 service aces, and nine blocks. Weston made an immediate impact for the Badgers and provided depth for the team throughout the 2020 season.

Coach John commented by saying "Mike came to us in his senior year to finish up his circumstantially adventurous college career. Mike supplied maturity and leadership to our very young program. He started in every match this season and was a great asset to the team on the floor. Mike is determined and talented and I can't wait to see him across the net as he starts his volleyball coaching career."

Assistant coach Dana John added, "Mike Weston has been an integral part of the men's volleyball team with his hard work ethic and ability to push forward despite the challenges he faced. He contributed a consistent mature approach that the younger guys gravitated towards and his fun personality provided great entertainment for us all. I wish to congratulate him for completing his college endeavors and I wish him the best in his coaching pursuits after graduation."

The Badgers thank both Jesse and Michael for their contributions to the Badgers men's volleyball program and Johnson athletics as a whole and wish them luck in their future endeavors.
