Verner Commits to Women's Soccer for 2020 Season

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's soccer program and Head Coach Andrew Lafrenz have earned an additional commitment for the 2020 season.

Grace Verner has signed the necessary paperwork and has given Coach Lafrenz a verbal commitment for the upcoming 2020 season. Verner comes to Northern Vermont University-Johnson from Belvidere, Vermont. As a student-athlete at Lamoille Union High School, Verner was named captain of the Lamoille Union varsity girls soccer team and was named All-League Honorable Mention this past season.

When arrived at Northern Vermont University-Johnson, Verner plans to pursue a degree in Psychology with her main focus being in Sport Psychology. Being a local product, Verner is excited to continue her education and athletic career close to home. "NVU-Johnson was my top choice for multiple reasons," said Verner. "The major factor was the welcoming nature of the university and the commitment of the staff to making sure students can develop in academics, athletics, and community service".

Grace Verner is excited to compete for Coach Lafrenz who has been a familiar face for many years through the Vermont Soccer School and a local coach within the community. "I have attended games and soccer camps at Johnson and have been impressed with the dedication and personal attention the athletic department has shown to its student athletes. I have had a chance to work with Coach Lafrenz over the past several years at the summer soccer program and look forward to working with him full time as a Badger".

Verner is the second commitment for Coach Lafrenz for the upcoming 2020 campaign. The NVU-Johnson women's soccer team will announce additional commitments in the near future.
