Badgers Battle ENC in Conference Loss

JOHNSON, Vt.- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's volleyball team hosted Eastern Nazarene College on Friday evening in a New England Collegiate Conference matchup in Carter Gymnasium. The Badgers fall 3-0 on the evening.

The Badgers and Lions exchanged points early in the first set until the Lions added on five straight points to pull ahead 10-5. The Lions continued to expand their lead, taking the opening set 15-25.

In the second set, the Badgers fell behind early. With the largest lead in favor of the lions 10 - 5, the Badgers answered with a hard-fought battle chipping away. The Lions would edge their way through, taking the second set 26-24. The Lions closed the match with a 27-25 victory in the third set to seal their 3-0 victory over the Badgers. 

Garrison French earned two blocks and three kills on the evening. Dominic Phelps led the way with 8 kills for the Badgers, Ryan Willette contributed 5 kills and 9 digs. Jason Madrid was impressive recording 20 assists. Alejandro Garcia Fernandez led the way for the Lions recording a match high 10 kills.

With the loss, the Badgers drops to 0-4 on the season and 0-4 in NECC play. The Badgers will be back in action as they trek to Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday, March 26 where they will face off in an NECC conference match followed by a non-conference competition.
