Anya Adams Named Head Softball Coach

JOHNSON, Vt.- Northern Vermont University-Johnson has named Anya Adams as its new softball head coach, Associate Dean of Athletics & Recreation Jamey Ventura announced earlier today.

"We are very excited with the hire of Anya Adams as she brings a wealth of softball knowledge, training and coaching to our softball program," said Associate Athletic Director Greg Eckman. "She has worked hard developing softball players through her training. Her holistic approach to the development of athletes is something we are very excited about and we can't wait for her to get started."

Adams comes to NVU-Johnson recently after spending the 2020 season as the head coach of the Ghajnieslem Redcoats. Prior to her time with the Redcoats, Adams was the owner and director of operations at Pure Performance Inc. located in Fairfax, Virginia before selling her business in 2014. She also has spent time as the Arlington Girls Softball Association head travel softball coach, director of softball and administration for the Virginia Baseball Club and was the varsity softball coach at La Jolla High School.

"I'm excited and honored that Greg and Jamey have given me the opportunity to become part of the tight knit community at NVU-Johnson as head coach of the softball team," said Adams. "I am looking forward to continuing to develop the softball program with the team and succeed together in reaching some new goals!"

Adams earned a Positive Coaching Alliance Trainer certificate in March of 2017 and continues to dedicate her time to enhancing student-athlete performance. As a student-athlete, Adams was the starting shortstop at NCAA Division I George Mason University from 1996-1998. She was also a member of the Patriot's women's lacrosse team from 1998-1999 and earned a B.A. in Communication in May of 2000.

Adams becomes the sixth coach in program history and will take over a program that was 3-25 in 2019 while the 2020 season was cancelled due to COVID.
