JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University- Johnson women's softball program and Head Coach Anya Adams have announced an additional commitment for the 2022 season. 

Aaliyah Jones a native of Aurora, Colorado and a student-athlete at William C Hinkley High School has signed the necessary paperwork and has committed to NVU-Johnson and the Badger softball program. When arrived in the fall of 2021, Jones plans to pursue a degree in psychology. 

"I chose NVU-Johnson because I knew I wanted to attend college in a small town with plenty of mountains for hiking close by," said Jones. "I like the small class sizes and the campus, and its surrounding areas are beautiful and I'm looking forward to experiencing Vermont."

During her time at William C Hinkley High School, Jones lettered in golf and band and was a first chair flutist. On the softball field, Jones lettered her freshman year before being named captain in her sophomore and junior seasons. On the club circuit Jones competed for the Elbert County Coyotes.

"Aaliyah is a power hitting first baseman who will be sure to make an impact on the field for us," said Adams. "She is an athlete who goes all out on defense every single play and has consistently proven she is an extra base hitter.  She is a piece to our program that is sure to make us even stronger competitors in the NAC."

Jones is very excited for the opportunity to compete for Coach Adams as well. "I'm thrilled and honored to be able to play for Coach Adams. I know she has the experience and drive to take the softball program to the next level. I'm looking forward to seeing her plans for the program. I've been keeping up on all the commitment announcements and am excited to meet my new teammates. I feel that Coach Adams has put together a very talented team."

With this latest commitment the Badgers have announced eight incomers for the 2022 season. Head Coach Anya Adams plans to announce additional commitments in the near future.
