Johnson Eliminated from NAC Playoffs with 65-63 Loss to NEC

HENNIKER, N.H. – The Johnson State College women's basketball team fell to New England College 65-63 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Quarterfinal round on Tuesday night.

The Badgers end the season at 12-14 overall, while the Pilgrims go to 20-6 and advance to the NAC Semifinal.

1st Quarter

The Badgers started the game on a 7-1 run, before NEC came back to take the 9-7 lead midway through the quarter. Johnson closed out the game on a 15-4 run to take the 22-13 lead after one.

2nd Quarter

Johnson stretched their lead to as much as 19 in the second, before NEC closed the gap to bring the score to 39-28 with a minute left in the quarter. Ashley Goddard (Jamaica, Vt.) hit a shot from five feet outside the three-point line as time expired to give Johnson the 42-28 lead going into the half.

3rd Quarter

The Pilgrims chipped away at Johnson's lead in the third, pulling to within seven as the quarter ended with a 53-44 Johnson lead.

4th Quarter

NEC kept their momentum into the fourth, tying the game at 59 midway through the quarter. The teams traded leads down the stretch, with the Pilgrims taking the 63-61 lead at the 1:45 mark. The Badgers were unable to answer and fell 65-63.

Johnson Leaders

Domonique Carter-Stanley (Norwalk Conn.) led the Badgers with 21 points, three assists, two blocks and two steals. Kasey DeGreenia (Concord, Vt.) added 14 points and nine rebounds. Goddard hauled in a team-high 11 rebounds.

NEC Leaders

Rene Hudson scored a game high 24 points and picked up seven rebounds. Tiffany Davis hauled in a game-high 12 rebounds.

Stats Breakdown

Johnson outshot NEC 36.1% to 31.3%, while the Pilgrims outshot the Badgers 36.8% to 33.3% from three-point range. NEC held the rebound advantage 51-41, while Johnson forced 14 turnovers to the Pilgrims 12.
