ROUND 2 MATCHUPS SET FOR BATTLE OF THE BADGERS

JOHNSON, Vt.-The 2020 BATTLE OF THE BADGERS concluded first round matchups Friday evening. In just four days a total of 756 votes were registered. The remaining eight Badgers will compete in Round Two of the BATTLE OF THE BADGERS beginning Sunday, April 12 running through Friday, April 17 at 11:59pm. You may access the voting through NVUBadgers.com as well as social media.

 

ROUND ONE RESULTS

Associate Dean of Athletics and Recreation Jamey Ventura and Head Men's Golf Coach Bill Boldwin produced a strong turnout of 111 votes in one of the more interesting matchups of Round One. It was Ventura who came up with the upset in the final hour of voting to move on to the second round with 56 votes. 

 

Assistant Athletic Director & Head Men's Basketball Coach Miles Smith came out victorious in his matchup against Associate Dean of Students & Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach Michele Whitmore. The matchup registered 77 votes. Smith will have his hands full in Round Two when he faces Jamey Ventura. 

 

Athletics & Recreation Office Assistant Cara Hancy faced off against Head Women's Softball Coach Stacey Fox in the first round. The machup registered 78 votes with 44 in favor of Hancy. With the win Hancy will move to round two and look for the upset against Assistant Athletic Director for Communications Chad Copeland.

 

Head Men's & Women's Track and Field Coach Shawn Woods fell in the first round to Assistant Athletic Director for Communications Chad Copeland. The matchup registered just 68 votes with 42 in favor of Copeland. Copeland and Hancy will faceoff in Round Two. 

 

Head Athletic Trainer James Nichols and Head Men's and Women's Volleyball Coach/Administrator Keven John faced off in round one and registered 73 votes. Throughout the week their were multiple lead changes and in the final hour Nichols proved to be victorius earning one more vote over John to advance by a score of 37 to 36.

 

Head Men's Soccer Coach Shane Bufano and Head Men's and Women's Cross Country/Women's Triathlon Coach Kim Loeffler's matchup registered the most votes in round one with 187. Bufano emerged victorious with an impressive 108 votes. Bufano will have his hands full in Round Two as he is set to faceoff against James Nichols.

 

Graduate Assistant Hayley Lecours and Assistant Athletic Trainer Ben Michon had another close matchup with many lead changes throughout the week. Michon took the lead with 24 hours remaining in the voting and held the lead throughout the final minutes. The matchup registered 85 votes with 51 in favor of Michon.

 

The final matchup to conclude Round 1 was Associate Athletic Director/Head Women's Basketball Coach Greg Eckman against Head Women's Soccer Coach Andrew Lafrenz. The matchup registered 87 votes with Eckman gaining the lead early in the week and advancing by a score of 56 to 31.
