Weekend Recap 2/10/23- 2/11/23

2/10/23 Friday 

Women's Basketball:

On Friday our Women Badger's basketball traveled to SUNY Cobleskill. It was an extremely close back and forth game the first half ended and the score was SUNY leading 28-29. It was still a neck and neck battle up through the third as well with SUNY Cobleskill just outscoring the Badgers again 16-17 in the quarter. But the Badgers were able to make a fourth quarter come back and send the game into overtime scoring 18 points in the quarter compared to SUNY's 18. However sadly in Overtime the win was just out of reach as a late turnover caused SUNY Cobleskill to go up by one with 23 seconds remaining. With 5 seconds on the clock Paris Atuahene put up a three for the game but couldn't get it to go. Final Score 71-72.

The Standout performances were  Emma Buonanno with a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, Gabrielle Wardwell with a double-double as well with 20 points and 26 rebounds, and Paris Atuahene with the game high of 25 points.

Men's Basketball:

On Friday our Men's Badger's basketball traveled to SUNY Cobleskill as well. The men came out of the game hot outscoring SUNY Cobleskill 46-31 in the first half. SUNY Cobleskill tried to mount a comeback in the second half but it was too little too late as they outscored the Badgers 40-46 in the second half. But the Badgers were able to confidently close out the game the final score being 86-77.

The Standout performances were Malik Moore with 14 points, Maleek View with 21 points, and Yeskin Walker Williams with 28 points. 

2/11/23

Women's Basketball:

After their game friday against SUNY Cobleskill the women then travled to SUNY Delhi on Saturday. Our Badgers came to play with a vengence as they came out the game and stayed strong the entire game. As our Badgers outscored SUNY Delhi every quarter and coasted to a very confident win over SUNY Delhi with the final score being 88-61.

The Standout performances were Gabrielle Wardwell with another double-double scoring 18 points with 20 rebounds, Emma Buonanno with 20 points and an impressive 6 steals, and Paris Atuahene with the game high 33 points.

This puts their record at 13-11 and their conference record at 6-7. 

Their next and final game of the regular season is 2/14/23 at Lyndon.

Men's Basketball:

As well as Women's basketball the Men also had a game against SUNY Delhi the next day after their competition with SUNY Cobleskill. This game for our Badgers didn't go the way they wanted though. The first half SUNY Delhi outscored our Badgers 34-42. The Second half our Badgers tried to mount a comback but they were unable to outscore SUNY Delhi in the second half as well. Badgers fell to SUNY Delhi final score being 69-80.

The Standout Performances were Raymond Baka with the double-double scoring 10 points and getting 15 rebounds, Mohammed Semega with 11 points, and Maleek View with 27 points.

This puits their record at 10-13 and their conference record at 4-8.

Their next game is at Lyndon 2/14/23.

Men's Volleyball:

Saturday the Men's Badgers Volleyball team traveled to Dean College to play a tri-match between Dean College and Kings PA.

The first match was against Dean College and our Badgers came out the gate extremely strong winning the very first set 25-5 while as a team hitting a very impressive .846 11 kills on 13 attempts with no errors. But Dean didn't give up and the next two sets were much closer but the Badger's were able to win in three straight sets the scores of the last two sets being 27-25 and 25-19. As a team our Badger's hit a respectable .373 with 36 kills, 32 total assists, 13 service aces, and 28 digs.

The Standout Performances were Luke Walters hitting an impressive .455 with 5 kills, 15 assists, a service ace, and 4 digs with 2 block assists for a total of 7 points. Bar Suster hitting a very impressive .625 with 6 kills and adding a solo block and 2 assisted blocks for 8 points. Dominic Phelps hitting a respectable .300 with 5 kills, with 3 service aces, and a solo block for a total of 9 points with the game leading in digs with 7. Sam Munson hitting an impressive .556 with 5 kills and 4 service aces for a total of 9 points, he also added 4 digs. Austin White with 3 kills and an impressive 5 service aces and adding a solo block for a total of 9 points as well. Xee Anderson hitting a .316 with 10 kills and 1 solo block for a total of 11 points he also had 13 assists and 5 digs.

This game ties the Men's Badger's Volleyball record with 5 wins but also an unprecedented 5 game winstreak for our Badgers as well. 

The next game was against the undefeated Kings PA and sadly they remain undefeated. Kings PA beat our Badgers in three straight sets 14-25, 11-25, and the third set was much closer and the Badgers were close to taking the set but they still fell 19-25. As a team the Badgers had 14 kills but this was the first game where they hit a negative percentage at -.043 they also had 14 assists 26 digs and 6 service aces.

The Standout Performances were Bar Suster with 1 kill 2 service aces and 2 block assists for 4 points, with 4 digs. Carter Hubley with 6 digs. Austin White leading the team in hitting percentage with a .200 with 1 kill along with 1 solo block and 2 assisted blocks for 3 points. Luke Walters with 10 assists, 2 service aces and 2 block assists for 3 points, as well as having the team high and tying the game high with 7 digs. Dominic Phelps with 4 kills, a service ace, and a block assisted for 5.5 points. Xee Anderson had 7 kills and a block assist for 7.5 points and he had 6 digs.

This puts their record at 5-1

Their next game is a double-header at home against Fisher College again on Saturday 2/18/23 starting at 1 PM
