Johnson Defeated By Bard 78-73

MIDDLETOWN, Conn - Johnson State men's basketball was defeated on Saturday 78-73 by Bard College in the consolation game of the Inn at Middletown Tournament hosted by Wesleyan University.  JSC is now 0-3, 0-0 North Atlantic Conference while Bard stands at 1-2, 0-0 Liberty League.

Junior point guard Andy Bousono (Philadelphia, Penn./Nueva Esperanza), an all-tournament selection, recorded 24 points, six rebounds, six steals, and four assists while sophomore forward Bryan Hickey (Barre, Vt./Spaulding) added 14 points while freshman forward Cory Chase (Milton, Vt./Milton) chipped in with 10 points and five boards.

Bard's Frank Stortini recorded a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds, Lamar Powell scored 14 points, Yonah Greenstein scored 13, and Francis Arnold 12.

Bard would take an 11-10 lead with 12:39 left in the first half and not relinquish it the rest of the way.  The Raptors held a 37-31 lead at halftime.

JSC would slip behind as many as fourteen early in the second half but would surge to with four points on three different occassions with less than five minutes to play. 

Johnson moves on to play at SUNY Canton on Tuesday at 7:00 pm while Bard will play at Mount St. Mary on 11/29 at 8:00 pm.

In the tournament championship the host Cardinals pulled away from Curry for a 80-59 win.
