Chargers Pull Away From Johnson in Men's Basketball

JOHNSON, Vt. – Johnson State College trailed by eight at the half but saw visiting Colby-Sawyer College roll in the second half and pick up a 90-57 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory on Saturday at Carter Gym.  The Chargers held Johnson to 29% shooting in the second half while shooting 55% from the floor themselves en route to the win.

Freshman Koang Thok (Portland, Maine/Lee Academy) scored a game-high 25 points on 8-15 shooting including three 3-point field goals to pace the Chargers.  Senior sniper Will Bardaglio (Wayne, Maine/Maranacook) canned five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points while classmate James Tobin (Brookline, Mass./Hollis-Brookline) added 16 points.

Johnson was led by junior point guard Andy Bousono (Philadelphia, Penn./Nueva Esperanza) and his 13 points.  Freshman forward Cory Chase (Milton, Vt./Milton) added 12 points and six rebounds while sophomore guard Scott Moran (Orange, Conn./Amity) scored 10 points and dealt out five assists.

Colby-Sawyer led wire-to-wire but saw the Badgers trail by just a point at 29-28 with 4:25 left in the first half following a Moran jumper.  But a pair of Bardaglio 3-pointers before half keyed a surge that provided the eight-point margin at the break.

The Chargers came out of the half and took control immediately opening the half on a 9-2 spurt and they did not look back.  C-SC finished the game with a 36-23 rebound advantage while shooting 10-19 (53%) from 3-point land.

Johnson will step outside of conference play with a contest at the College of St. Joseph (Vt.) on Thursday at 7:30 pm.  Colby-Sawyer moves on to host WPI on Tuesday at 7:00 pm.
