Johnson Falls Short at CSJ 76-67

RUTLAND, Vt. - Johnson State led by one at the half and a see-saw second-half then occurred with both teams holding small leads but the host Fighting Saints of the College of St. Joseph (Vt.) were able to take control down the stretch and earn a 76-67 non-conference men's basketball victory.  The Badgers are 0-8, 0-2 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) and CSJ stands at 8-3.

Johnson was led by sophomore's Scott Moran (Orange, Conn./Amity) and Bryan Hickey (Barre, Vt./Spaulding) who scored 15 points apiece while junior forward Cody Camisa (Colchester, Vt./Colchester) added 13 points.  Junior point guard Andy Bousono (Philadelphia, Penn./Nueva Esperanza) chipped in with 10 points.

St. Joseph (Vt.) was paced by Brendan Rios who scored a game-high 19 points including three 3-point field goals while Ramel Anderson added four 3's of his own en route to 16 points.  Raheim Smalls was the third Saint in double-figures with 11 points.

The Badgers held a 20-13 lead midway through the first half but saw CSJ rally to cut the lead to one at the half at 37-36.

The second half saw several lead changes but Rios' 12-point second half effort keyed the CSJ rally and spark them to the win.

Johnson will play their final game of the fall semester on Saturday at home against NAC foe Lyndon State College at 1:00 pm while St. Joseph (Vt.) returns to action on Friday night when they host New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) at 7:30 pm.
