Badgers See Farmington Pull Away for 77-56 Win

FARMINGTON, Maine - Johnson State College tipped off their 2012 schedule on Friday night as host University of Maine-Farmington turned a 30-30 game at halftime into a 77-56 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory.  With the win UMF moves to 5-4 overall and 5-0 in the NAC while Johnson slides to 1-9, 1-3 NAC.

The Beavers were led by sophomore center Ben Johnson (Manchester, Maine) who scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds.  Andrew Dickey (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) came of the bench to supply 17 points and six boards and Nate Carson (Orrington, Maine) added 12 points for UMF.

JSC saw junior point guard Andy Bousono (Philadelphia, Penn./Nueva Esperanza) score a game-high 20 points with 17 of them coming in the first half.  Backcourt mate and sophomore Scott Moran (Orange, Conn./Amity) chipped in with 10 points and five assists for the Badgers.

Farmington led by as many as 13 in the first half at 25-12 but Johnson would storm back late in the stanza to tie the game at 30 going into the half.  The teams would trade baskets throughout the opening minutes of the second half until a corner three from Bousono gave JSC a 39-37 lead with 16:47 remaining.  The Beavers would roll off 17 straight points, with Dickey scoring nine points during that stretch, and put the game out of reach.

Johnson moves on to play at Thomas College on Saturday at 1:00 pm while Farmington will host Lyndon State also on Saturday at 1:00.
