Thomas Tames Badgers 88-68

WATERVILLE, Maine - Johnson State College suffered a 88-68 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's basketball loss on Saturday at Thomas College to fall to 1-10 overall, 1-4 NAC.  Thomas improves to 7-4, 4-2 NAC and received game-high's 30 points and nine rebounds from junior wing Jarrad DeVaughn (Brockton, Mass.).

Johnson saw sophomore guard Scott Moran (Orange, Conn./Amity) score 12 points while freshman forward Cory Chase (Milton, Vt./Milton) added 11 points and sophomore center Billy Boyd (Hardwick, Vt./Hazen) scored 10.  Junior point guard Andy Bousono (Philadelphia, Penn./Nueva Esperanza) dished out 11 assists for the Badgers.

Franklin Salvador (Somerville, Mass.) tossed in 17 points to add to DeVaughn's 30 to supplement the Terrier offense.

The Terriers shot 50% (31-62) from the field on the day while also earning a 40-26 rebounding advantage.

An Alen Turan (Essex, Vt./Essex) lay up would tie the game at 25-25 with 4:44 remaining in the first half but Thomas would finish on a 15-5 surge to close the half and take a 40-30 lead into the half.

A Moran 3-pointer would make the score 46-37 with 17:10 to play but the Terriers would spurt again this time 14-4 over a four minute span.

Johnson will return home for four consecutive games starting on Tuesday at 5:30 pm when the Eagles of Green Mountain College come to Carter Gym.  Thomas moves on to play at Husson University also on Tuesday.
