Badgers Run Past Maine Maritime 73-53

JOHNSON, Vt. – Johnson State College used a 55% field goal shooting effort to fuel a 73-53 North Atlantic Conference men's basketball victory on Friday at Carter Gymnasium over Maine Maritime Academy.  The Badgers improve to 3-10, 3-4 NAC while the Mariners slip to 2-11, 1-6 NAC.

Sophomore guard Scott Moran (Orange, Conn./Amity) (pictured) scored a game and career-high 21 points and added four assists and sophomore forward Bryan Hickey (Barre, Vt./Spaulding) added 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting and six rebounds to lead JSC.  Junior point guard Andy Bousono (Philadelphia, Penn./Nueva Esperanza) scored nine points and dealt out six assists while freshman forward Cory Chase (Milton, Vt./Milton) scored eight points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds off the Badger bench.

MMA saw sophomore forward Andy Ball (Hermon, Maine/Hermon) net a team-best 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting  while senior center Shawn Dostie (Bowdoinham, Maine/Mount Ararat) hauled in a game-high 11 rebounds.

Johnson earned a 34-19 rebound advantage on the night to help key the victory and 20-10 rebound advantage in the first half to help take a  40-25 lead into the halftime.

Johnson returns to the floor tomorrow for a 2:00 pm tip-off against Husson University while Maine Maritime heads east to Lyndon State College for a 1:00 pm start time.
