Johnson Drops GMC 88-63

POULTNEY, Vt. - A balanced Johnson State College men's basketball team ran past host Green Mountain College on Saturday 88-63 to move to 4-12, 4-6 North Atlantic Conference (NAC).  The Eagles fall to 3-10, 2-7 NAC.

Senior forward Brian Phelps (Milton, Vt./Milton) (pictured) came off the bench to spark the Badgers providing 15 points on 5-7 shooting and seven rebounds.  Sophomore guard Scott Moran (Orange, Conn./Amity) knocked down 3-4 3-pointers en route to a 13-point day, sophomore center Billy Boyd (Walden, Vt./Hazen) tossed in 12 points and junior forward Cody Camisa (Colchester, Vt./Colchester) scored 11 for JSC.  Both sophomore forward Bryan Hickey (Barre, Vt./Spaulding) and junior point guard Andy Bousono (Philadelphia, Penn./Nueva Esperanza) just missed double-double's with Hickey scoring eight and grabbing a game-high nine rebounds and Bousono scoring nine points and dishing out seven assists.

Green Mountain was led by Kyle Middleton's 14 points and Jeremiah Aponte's 12 points.  Both Carnelius Green and Jack Hepburn contributed 11 points each.

Johnson rolled to a 45-32 halftime lead behind 64% shooting and 13 points from Phelps going 5-5 from the free throw line.  The Eagles would claw to within nine but the Badgers would stave off the run and pull away for the important NAC road win.

The Badgers will face New England College on Thursday at 7:30 pm in their next contest while GMC hosts Castleton State College on Tuesday.
