Colby-Sawyer cruises past Johnson 95-58

NEW LONDON, N.H. - Johnson State College suffered a 95-58 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) loss on Saturday at Colby-Sawyer College as the host Chargers shot an eye-popping 75% from the field in the second half.  The Badgers are now 3-4, 1-1 NAC while Colby-Sawyer picks up their first win of the season and are now 1-4, 1-1 NAC.

Sophomore forward Matt Fitzpatrick (Andover, Mass./RHAM) (pictured) had a strong outing for Johnson providing 18 points, seven steals, and six rebounds off the bench.  Senior Andy Bousono (Philadelphia, Penn./Nueva Esperanza) added nine points, four assists, four rebounds, and four steals.

Sophomore forward Mike Dias (Carver, Mass.) had an outstanding day for Colby-Sawyer recording career-high's of 28 points and 15 rebounds while shooting 13-20 from the field.  Classmates Koang Thok (Portland, Maine) added 15 points and Zach Bean (Scarborough, Maine) scored a career-high 14 points.  Freshman Peter Donato (Portland, Maine) chipped in with 10 points and six boards.

Johnson got off to a good start jumping out to leads of 10-2 and 17-12 following a 3-pointer from Fitzpatrick with 11:14 left to play in the first half.  The field goal would astonishingly be the last for Johnson for the half as Colby-Sawyer would force six turnovers to fuel their transition game and JSC would go 0-10 from the 3-point line during that stretch.  The Chargers would take a 15-point lead into the locker room at 35-20.

C-SC kept the momentum coming out of the locker room opening the second half with an 11-0 run before Johnson freshman Austin Robinson (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) scored a lay up with 17:46 left in the game.

The Chargers would connect on 24-of-32 shots during the second half keeping the lead at no less than 18 points through the stanza.

Johnson will move on to play at nationally #4 ranked Middlebury College on Thursday while Colby-Sawyer will host Framingham State University on Monday, both non-conference showdowns.
