Badgers Take Third Straight Win After Edging GMC 72-68

POULTNEY, Vt.-The Johnson State College men's basketball team notched a 72-68 win against North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opponent Green Mountain College Tuesday night at GMC's Eagle Dome. The win comes as JSC's  first road win of the season. Johnson State jumps to 6-6 overall and 4-2 in the NAC while GMC slides to 1-10 overall and 0-5 in the NAC.

Both senior forward Cody Camisa (Colchester, Vt. / Colchester) and junior forward Bryan Hickey (Barre, Vt./Spaulding) tallied 15 points each for JSC followed closely by sophomore guard Asim Khan (Torrance, Calif./Torrance) with 14 points, 10 for 10 in free throws, four boards and three assists. Ron Adrian (Schenectady, N.Y. / Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons) contributed a crucial 11 points and six rebounds to the Badger's win.

Sophomore guards Carnelius Green (Oviedo, Fla.) and Terry Jones (Pearl, Miss. / Richland) headed the offense for Green Mountain College, with 18 and 14 points respectively. Fellow sophomore Elijah Wiggins (Pawtucket, R.I.) came off the bench to tally nine points for the Eagles and grabbed five rebounds.

The Badgers jumped out to an early lead and held the Eagles to one basket until minute 12:31 when Wiggins broke the Badger's streak and brought the score to 15-4 JSC advantage. The visiting team would hold leads as much as 17-4 and 33-20 in the first 15 minutes of the half. Although GMC would surge to close the gap at the half bringing the score to 37-31, the Eagles could not keep pace with Johnson. During the second half, the Badgers shot 82.1% from the free throw line, helping them secure a victory over the hosts.

The Badgers will travel to Maine to take on Maine Maritime Friday night at 7:30pm in the first of two weekend matches while the Eagles will remain at home to host Colby-Sawyer on Thursday night.
