MMA would keep the hosts at bay for the until three minute mark when junior guard Lester Alexander (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) converted a lay-up and was fouled making the score 66-65 Badgers with Alexander connecting on the free to give JSC the two-point lead, their first since the opening minutes of the game.

Johnson would get the lead to five but back to back buckets by Ball and Jason Hatch (Islesboro, Maine/Islesboro) got MMA back to within one.  A Mariner stop gave the visitors the ball and a chance to win with under :20 seconds to play.  A Campbell miss that bounced off a Johnson had out of bounds game the Mariners the ball back with :08 to play.  The ball wasn't entered, passed to the top to Ball who had Camisa isolated in space.  Ball took a hard dribble left and rose for the jumper but simultaneously Camisa did the same getting a piece of the shot attempt as the ball fell well short as the buzzer sounded sending Carter Gym into a frenzy.

Both teams shot the ball well throughout the contest with Johnson going 10-20 (50%) from the 3-point line and 25-55 (46%) from the field.  Maine Maritime topped that with a 56% (29-52) effort from the field and 7-of-13 (54%) from the arc.
