Johnson State Defeats Green Mountain 69-54

Johnson State College had four players score in double-figures as it defeated fellow North Atlantic Conference (NAC) member Green Mountain College 69-54 Saturday afternoon at the Eagle Dome.

Bryan Hickey scored 14 points for the Badgers to go along with his game-high 14 rebounds. Ron Adrian tallied 15 points off a 4-of-10 shooting performance from three-point range. Lester Alexander scored a game-high 16 points off the bench for Johnson State, while Josh Reed hit four three-pointers in the first half for the visitors.

Robert Holloway contributed a team-high in points and rebounds, scoring 12 points and grabbing six boards for the Eagles. Cassius Belfon added 11 points and six rebounds for the hosts while Terry Jones tallied 10 points on four-of-eight shooting.

Johnson State never trailed in the game, going on a 9-0 run in the first five minutes of the contest. The Badgers' momentum would guide them to a 33-22 lead going into halftime.

The Eagles began the second half hot, going on a 12-6 run between 17:35 and 13:30 remaining in the contest to narrow the gap to 45-37.

Green Mountain's hot start to the second half would be short-lived, however, as the Badgers would outscore the Eagles 24-17 in the last 13:17 of the game to claim the victory.

Green Mountain's bench played well, scoring 34 of its 54 points in the game.

The Badgers held the advantage defensively, outrebounding Green Mountain 41-35 while also forcing the Eagles to commit 11 turnovers.

Green Mountain will travel to Colby-Sawyer for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off Tuesday while Johnson State prepares to host Middlebury College also on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
