Badgers Pick Up Road Win Against Vermont Tech

Johnson State men's basketball picked up a 64-55 non-conference win over in-state foe, Vermont Technical College, Monday night in Randolph Center. The Badgers improve their record to 5-11 on the year and 2-8 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play while the Knights' slide to 6-11-1, 1-9 Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC). 

The Badgers had three players score in double figures;  Asim Khan led the badgers in scoring with 16 points, while tallying two assists and four steals. Ron Adrian and senior Lester Alexander each chipped in 13 points towards the Badgers' win. 

For the Knights, Jamal Hughes was the only player to score in double figures, finishing the game with nearly half of his team's total, contributing 25 points and five assists.

VTC jumped out to an early 11-5 lead over the Badgers just five minutes into play. Johnson worked to tie things up 18-18 at the 11:06 mark only to see Vermont Tech use an 14-11 run to close out the half slightly ahead 32-29. 

Johnson broke open the second stanza with a three-pointer from Adrian to tie things up 32-32. Play remained close until the Badgers took their final lead at 5:38 off of crucial Alexander three putting JSC up 51-49. The Badgers walked away with the 64-55 win. 

Johnson will travel to SUNY Canton on Wednesday to face the Roos for a 7:00p tip-off.
