Beavers Best Badgers 71-63

Conference rival Me.-Farmington earned a 71-63 win against Johnson State College men's basketball team on Friday night in Carter Gymnasium. The Beavers advance to 2-3 on the year and are 2-0 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) while the Badgers slip to 0-2 in the conference and 0-7 overall.

Robert Hazard led the badgers with a double-double, recording 23 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Asim Khan contributed 13 points and pulled down six rebounds.

Nick Hilton was one rebound shy of a double-double, notching 16 points and nine boards for the visitors. Uriah Forest-Bulley and Pet Sumner both tallied 17 point while Ryan Camire contributed 10 points in the Beavers win.

In the first half, Johnson State and Me.-Farmington exchanged the lead seven different times. With so much back and forth play, the teams were deadlocked at 15 a piece at the 8:46 mark, again at the 7:37 (17-17), and one more time with 6:20 left in the half (19-19). With two minutes remaining, Sumner drained a three to give the Beavers a lead they would never lose. Me.-Farmington headed into the intermission ahead 34-27.

The Badgers came out of the half sluggish, allowing the Beavers to go 21-9 run, extending the lead to 19 with 11:37 left in regulation. Johnson State hit their stride momentarily going on a 16-5 run, cutting the lead down to single digits. The Beavers would then go on to score 11 points exclusively from the charity stripe to secure the win with a final score of 71-63.

Johnson State will face Thomas College at 3:00pm on Saturday while Maine Farmington Tavels to Lyndon for a 3:00 tip off as well.
