The Suffolk men's basketball team did not let a quick turnover halt them as the Rams rolled past Johnson State, 83-65, in the consolation contest of Amherst's 15th annual Ken Wright '52 Invitational.

Suffolk, who took the court in LeFrak Gymnasium just 14 hours prior to today's tip-off, used its veteran leadership to capture its first win of the 2015-16 campaign and first under the guidance of Jeff Juron. Caleb Unni put in a career-high 23 points off a 70 percent (7-10) performance from 3-point range. Senior Adam Chick was right behind Unni with a well-balanced game of 19 points, connecting on 8-of-10 from the field, to go with 10 rebounds, five assists and one steal.  Steven DiPrizio was also efficient from the floor, going 6-of-8, including a perfect 2-of-2 from beyond-the-arc for his own career night of 14 points. The freshman was one carom shy of a double-double with nien and added four assists and one block. Senior Matt Duquette chipped in 10 points, five rebounds, five helpers and swatted two shots.

Suffolk (1-2) owned a 44-29 advantage on the glass and scored 14 second-chance points off 12 offensive boards.

Johnson State received a game-high 27-point, six-rebound effort from Rahim Bunch.

Right off the tip the Rams put on a show as Unni netted a 3-pointer just 12 seconds in. The senior floor general continued to pour in the points for the blue-and-gold as Suffolk's 8-4 lead at 17:56 was all off the hands of Unni. 

Michael Hagopian got in on the shooting show less than a minute later as the freshman hit one from deep to make it an 11-6 game. The Beavers hung around until the 15 minute mark before the Rams just piled on the points. 

At the half-way point of the first frame Suffolk took a double-digit edge, 21-10 on a DiPrizio layup. The advantaged stretched to 21 points on Unni's sixth three of the opening period and DiPrizio's second trey of the day gave the Rams a 51-28 lead at the half. 

Suffolk was not short of tremendous from the field in the first half as it shot 58.8 percent (20-34). More impressive though was the Rams connection rate from beyond-the-arc as five different players netted a trey for a 62.5 clip (10-16).

Out of the locker room, the Rams picked up right where they left off as they traded hoops with Beavers, to maintain their 20-point edge. Suffolk did not falter the rest of the way as it held on for the 86-65 victory.
