JOHNSON, Vt. – The Johnson State College men's basketball team defeated the College of St. Joseph 79 -63 in their season opener on Wednesday night in Carter Gym.
The Badgers start their season 1-0 while the Fighting Saints go to 0-2.
1st HALF
The teams traded baskets early on with the score tied at seven five minutes in. Johnson went on a 33-19 run from that point to close the half and take a 40-26 lead into the intermission.
2nd HALF
The Badgers gained their largest lead of the night seven minutes into the second half to go up by 22 with a 57-35 lead. The Fighting Saints went on a 17-6 run to pull within 11, but the Badgers held them off to take the 79-63 win.
