JOHNSON, Vt. – The Johnson State College men's basketball team fell to UMaine-Farmington 70-60 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Saturday afternoon at Carter Gym.
The Badgers drop to 7-13 (4-10 NAC) on the season while the Beavers move to 9-12 (7-7 NAC).
1st HALF
The teams traded points in the early going, with the score tied 6-6 six minutes in. The Beavers went on a 12-1 run over the next four minutes to take command with an 18-7 lead. UMF held the advantage through the remainder of the half to go into the intermission ahead 39-24.
2nd HALF
The Badgers refused to be put away early in the second, trading baskets with the beavers to keep the deficit in the low teens. After a Riley Robinson layup with six minutes left made the score 59-47 in favor of UMF, Johnson rallied off nine straight points, capped by a Jeyquan Johnson (Harlem, N.Y.) three, to cut the lead to 59-56.The Beavers pulled back away though, and took the 70-60 win.
