Badgers Fall to Conference Leading Beavers

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's basketball team dropped to the University of Maine Farmington by a score of 80-32 on Saturday afternoon. 

 The University of Maine Farmington Beavers came in at an impressive 5-0 leading the North Atlantic Conference and came out strong on Saturday afternoon in Carter Gymnasium. 

The Beavers came out of the gates firing on all cylinders starting the game on an 11-2 run. The Badgers struck back with a 7-0 run of their own to bring the game back within two early in the first half. On the day the Badgers were led by Haji Haji (Burlington, Vt.) who had a team high eight points. Donell Shaw (Washington, DC) chipped in seven points and led the Badgers in rebounds with six.

The Beavers took the initial hit from the Badgers but they recovered and maintained their composure to take control of the rest of the first half. The Beavers had five players in double figures with Jack Kane leading the way with 13 points and nine rebounds. Bill Ruby contributed a double double of his own adding 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Beavers ended the first half leading the Badgers 36-14. 

The second half was no different as the Beavers controlled the tempo and scored 44 points in the second half. A strong defensive effort held the Badgers to only 18 points in the second half as the Beavers cruised to a 80-32 victory.
