Men's Basketball Lose Road Game To Panthers

PLYMOUTH, N.H- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's basketball traveled to Plymouth State University on Tuesday evening to face the Panthers in a non-conference game. A late run earned the Panthers the 80-66 win.

Tyhee Taylor surged the Badgers throughout the first half with an impressive 6-7 shooting from the floor and three made baskets from behind the arc for 15 first half points. Ayodeji Shokeye added 15 points for the Badgers.  Plymouth State pressure and NVU-Johnson first half turnovers slowed the Badger attack and PSU took the 41-32 lead headed into the break.

With the Badgers trailing Shokeye and Braxton Benvenuti each chipped in ten points apiece in the second half to bring the deficit to five points with eight minutes remaining in regulation. Back to back Panther buckets pushed the lead to ten and the Badgers couldn't find an answer dropping the road game by a score of 80-66.

Three Panthers scored in double figures and PSU was led by Jaylen LeRoy who scored a game high 24 points on 9-17 shooting. Dante Rivera added 19 points. The Panthers won the turnover battle only giving up the ball fifteen times to the Badgers twenty-five. The Plymouth State defense came up with 14 steals and scored 32 points off Badgers' turnovers. PSU held a 44-36 edge on the boards and outscored NVU-Johnson by a 36-22 margin in the paint, though the Badgers' bench outscored Plymouth State's reserves 39-8.

With the loss the Badgers drop to 1-2 on the season.
