Badgers Fall Late Against Terriers

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's basketball team were edged late in the second half to the Thomas College Terriers. The Terriers earned the conference win by a score of 75-69.

The Badgers were led by Ayodeji Shokeye and Floyd Davis off the bench. Shokeye scored a team high 19 points and connected on four shots from behind the arc. Davis earned a double double scoring 12 points and adding a team high 11 boards. Tyhee Taylor scored 13 points shooting an impressive 6-9 from the field and Kiyl Mack rounded out the Badger top performers scoring 10 points.

The teams were evenly matched in the early going, with Thomas holding a 33-31 edge with 2:24 to go in the first half until a Terrier run gave them the advantage headed into the second half leading 44-33. The Badgers came out strong in the second half and set the tone defensively and took the lead with just eight minutes remaining in regulation. The teams traded the lead over the following minutes, until the Terriers earned consecutive stops to take the lead by one with one-minute remaining which resulted in the 75-69 loss for the Badgers.

With the loss the Badgers drop to 3-10 overall and 1-2 in North Atlantic Conference play. Men's Basketball is set to host the University of Maine Farmington on Saturday at 3:00pm.
