Men’s Basketball Edged by Beavers in NAC Contest

FARMINGTON, Me. — The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's basketball team traveled to the University of Maine-Farmington for a North Atlantic Conference matchup on Friday evening.

The Beavers ran out to an early 19-0 lead before eight quick points by Ayodeji Shokeye cut the deficit to 13. Senior Javon Daniels went an impressive 5-6 from behind the arc in the final six minutes of the first half to earn 15 of his career high 22 points. Farmington entered halftime with a 45-30 lead.

Entering the second half, back to back baskets by Robert Dubose Jr. brought the Badgers within 13 points before a flurry of three pointers by the Beavers cut Johnson short. The Badgers kept the rebounding battle tight, out-rebounded by the Beavers 44-42. A strong 37-point performance by the Badgers bench was not enough, and UMaine-Farmington emerged with an 84-59 win over NVU-Johnson.

With the loss, the Badgers drop to 3-13 overall and 2-4 in conference action. The men's basketball team will return to action on Saturday against Thomas College at 5:00pm.
