The anticipation for the upcoming 2024-2025 Men's Basketball Season is on the rise under the leadership of Coach Johnson, who is entering his fourth year with the team. In his inaugural season, Coach Johnson orchestrated an impressive turnaround for the Badgers. Initially faced with a lackluster 4-9 record, he guided the team to a strong finish with a 6-6 record. The remarkable improvement included a berth in the NAC playoffs and a thrilling home victory against Cazenovia, where the Badgers triumphed with a score of 65-62. This victory marked the program's second home playoff win since the 2015-16 season. That team was led by NAC Co-Rookie of the Year, Brian Lee. 

Coach Johnson has a track record of reviving struggling programs throughout his coaching career, and his ability to recruit nationally is paying dividends for his program. Heading into this season, he has recruited a promising group of talented young men who are expected to make an immediate impact on the team's growth and success. This year’s team will be in infused with 11 new and talented young student athletes., including 6 freshmen. Coach Johnson expressed his excitement and stated, “This is the year for the program to turn the corner and become a yearly winning program".

With an impressive career boasting 289 wins to date, Coach Johnson has amassed several accolades. Notably, he holds the distinction of being the only player/coach to win a Conference Championship at Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia, PA. During his tenure there, he had the privilege of coaching Jonathan Haynes, a former All-American and Villanova University's 1994 NIT MVP. Additionally, Coach Johnson stands as the third all-time winningest basketball coach at Holy Family University in Philadelphia, PA. In the 2004-05 season, he was honored as the Conference Coach of the Year and the Philadelphia Area Small Coach of the Year.

Throughout his coaching career, Coach Johnson has nurtured and guided numerous talented players, including All-Americans Michael Sturns (Holy Family University), Sheldon Taylor (St. Mary's College of Maryland), and Thomas Farrior (Manor College). His coaching and recruiting prowess has produced multiple All-Conference and All-Region players, along with notable performers such as Conference Player of the Year Michael Sturns and Rookie of the Year Justin Swidowski as well as current senior Badger, Raymong Baka, a 2023-24 NAC 3rd Team All Conference performer. 

For Coach Johnson, the essence of coaching lies in the daily interactions with the student-athletes, who he considers remarkable young men in their own right. The opportunity to mentor and learn from them firsthand is a constant source of inspiration and fulfillment for him.

Coach Johnson attributes his commitment to coaching to the influence of esteemed role models such as John McLendon, Dr. Claudie Mackey, Bobby Vaughan, John Chaney, and David Felsen, among others. Currently pursuing his Doctorate Degree, he aspires to lead by example in the realm of Educational Empowerment, emphasizing the profound impact that education can have on the lives of his student-athletes. While Coach Johnson has a deep love for basketball, he firmly believes that the pursuit of education will always position his players for employment and personal growth.

Outside of coaching, Coach Johnson cherishes his marriage to Wanda Johnson since 2010. Together, they have a blended family with five children, further fueling his dedication to guiding and positively impacting the lives of young individuals both on and off the court.
