Men's Golf Sits in 4th Place After Day One of Castleton Invitational

RUTLAND, Vt.- The Northern Vermont University- Johnson men's golf team are trailing after day one in the opening round of the Castleton Invitational tournament at the Rutland Country Club.

Castleton University currently hold a 10-stroke lead over second-place Elms College, scoring an opening round score of 324. Western Connecticut State University is in third place, followed by Northern Vermont University-Johnson and Gordon College.

NVU-Johnson has a pair of golfers in the top-five as Austin Walters and Kaden Swett are in a tie for third with WestConn's Riley Shay after each recorded a score of 80 on the day. 

The Spartans hold a tie for the top spot as Nicholas Ojala and Jacob Erwin posted a score of 79.

The tournament concludes Sunday with tee times beginning at 9:10 a.m. at Rutland Country Club.
