Beavers Best Johnson 3-1 in Men's Soccer

FARMINGTON, Maine - Paul Dupre (Rehoboth, Mass.) and Michael Kelly (Norton, Mass.) each registered a goal and an assist as the University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer team notched a 3-1 win over Johnson State College in North Atlantic Conference action today at Prescott Field.

The Beavers (8-7 overall, 5-3 NAC) are scheduled to host Thomas College Tuesday at 3 p.m. in their regular season finale. The Badgers closed out their regular season at 4-11-1 (1-8).
Dupre drilled a free kick to open the scoring at 11:31, but the Badgers responded by a Ryan Demars (Morrisville, Vt.) header off a Richie Perez (Belmont, N.H.) indirect kick at 40:15 to tie the match at 1-1. Two minutes later, Kelly headed in a Dupre boot to give UMF the 2-1 edge at intermission.
Jordan Hale (Falmouth, Maine) gave the hosts breathing room at 72:03 when he fired a rocket from the top of the box off Kelly's upfield push to make the lead 3-1.
Derek Reilly (Hollis, N.H.) recorded six saves for the Beavers. UMF outshot the Badgers 27-11 and held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Ryan Belen (Northvale, N.J.) started and finished the game between the pipes for Johnson St. Belen made six saves in 50:26, while Patrick Fuller (Stowe, Vt.) stopped four shots in 39:34.
