Amcats Top Badgers 3-1.

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's soccer team hosted Anna Maria College on Tuesday afternoon. The Badgers were edged by a late Amcat run and fell by a score of 3-1.

 SCORING

 

1st Half: In the first half of action both sides traded blows. The Amcats recorded 11 shots with six being on goal and the Badgers recorded 13 shots with seven being on goal. It was NVU-Johnson that struck first when an Amcat defender tackled Tristan Salgado within the box to award the Badgers with a penalty shot. Robert Buonanno netted the penalty kick in the 40thminute to give the Badgers the 1-0 lead headed into half.

 

2nd Half: The Amcats came out attacking in the second half as Hezekiah Adeyeye put a shot on goal and a deflection from the Badger defense allowed the Amcats to even the score at one. In the 83rdminute Nick Lawrence pushed past the Badger back line to score and give the Amcats a late 2-1 lead. The Amcats continued to attack and Lawrence netted his second goal of the contest off an assist from Ryan Todesco leaving the Amcats with the 3-1 lead.

Goalie Zach Blaser recorded 10 saves on the contest.

 

With the loss the Badgers move to 2-3-1 on the season.
